Excessive consumption of vitamin D caused hypertension

Vitamin D is known for his usefulness to ward off skin cancer and health care. But the researchers found that too much vitamin D bad for blood pressure.

Researchers at John Hopkins University found that taking vitamin D in high doses can cause hypertension or even lead to hardening of the arteries.

"Healthy people who eat a lot of vitamin D supplements without knowing its effect on their health. However they should not take vitamin D supplements without the direction of a physician," said study leader Dr. Muhammad Amer, from the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School od Medicine, as reported by the NY Daily News.

It was discovered after researchers observed 10,000 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2001-2004. Even so Amer also found that for some types of people such as the elderly and women who experience menopause, a high amount of vitamin D that can be useful.

Amer, individuals should consult their physician before taking supplements of vitamin D. Needs vitamins every person is different. for some people a high intake of vitamin D supplements can be beneficial, but on others too much vitamin D can be dangerous.
